Warren Beatty 'Checkmates' All Fashion Contenders With This Suit!

Warren Beatty 'checkmates' all fashion contenders during the late 1960's with this impeccable checkered suit. The exact year was 1968 and Warren was everywhere at the time because of the success of "Bonnie and Clyde", a film which co-starred the equally breathtaking and striking Faye Dunaway.

The checkered suit parred along with a black turtleneck is right up my alley kiddas. Having worn on multiple occasions such similar looks, just substituting the checks with maybe a plaid or houndstooth textile finish. Haper's Bazaar magazine released this issue on February of 1968 and you can get bet your petticoat bottom it was smashing edition.

If this isn't the most darling vintage photo opt I've come across as of late. It's the legendary Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman, who were co-star mates in the 1958 film, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof".

For just a moment, lets forget about the memorable performances both actors transcended across the silver screen, but lets take a look at the stellar sense of style both Newman and Taylor strutted in the image above. His deep open V-neck and jeans , along with Taylor's chic (not to mention her pup in-hand) 1950's blouse with ankle length trousers and bag look simply impeccable!

Italian singer-songwriter, Luigi Tenco strutted a pair of dark trousers parred along with a classic white polo shirt and a sky blue cardigan is a perfect choice of outfit for any late summer or early fall weather. Valentino And Jackie O - A Fashion Dream

Valentino & Jackie O are two style icons both of whom partook in the same industry, that being fashion of course, walked along the streets of Capri during August of 1970.



Both individuals opted for a white pant look, topped off with a printed shirt on Valentino and a black top on Mrs Onassis. She of course is strutting her signature oversized shades.

1960's fashion photographer, Arnaud de Rosnay (and all around adventurer) took a nice walk with Windsor Elliot during the 1970's.



What knocked me outta my chair in this photograph was the choice of neck ties both individuals opted for. Elliot's country western inspired tie along with Rosnay's scarf just scream an easy-breezy look for the Summer season! The open shirt with a loose scarf would make a perfect match for a Sunday brunch with a mimosa in hand.

Alain Delon and Brigitte Bardot coast along the St. Tropez waters during the summer of August 1968. Brigitte and Alain accepted an invitation from 'French yachtsman', Eric Tabarly, to enjoy some leisurely time while on the Mediterranean sea. The legendary French actors strutted a black on black bathing suit outfits with a hint of colored prints for laid back yet dapper look.





A young Alain and Brigitte starred in a small film by Michel Boisrond entitled, "Les amours célèbres". Released in 1961.

Summer lovin' was definitely in full swing in 1967, when Gunter Sachs and Brigitte Bardot strolled the famous street of Via dei Condotti, which happens to be one of Rome's most famed avenues. Their are clothing boutiques and all sorts of wondrous things.

The duo's matching white smart shirts parred along with Brigitte's suede or corduroy trousers (?) make for a perfect summer ensemble. Also, both individuals' choice of snazzy belts and shoes only finish an already easy breezy look.

Lois Chiles and Sam Waterston wear what is considered in my eyes a darling ensemble made up of a tan and cream shirt and trousers with a smashing yellow belt. While the lady in the trench dress accessorized perfectly with her floppy hat, large shades, and multiple neck pieces including a crucifix.

The darling twosome happen to co-star on the 1974 film, "The Great Gatsby" portraying the characters of Jordan Baker and Nick Carraway. They were photographed along the beautiful beaches and sight tours La Romana (the Dominican Republic) had to offer. Fashion photographer at the time, Chris von Wangenheim, captured the duo in a classic summer ensemble perfect for any holiday getaway.

Thee intricately detailed scenes, varying from sequence to sequence, showcase a particularly rad party scene held in a luscious house near the South of France. You get the top fashion trends and impressive interior decor along with quality musique. What more could you ask for kiddas?

It should come to no surprise to all you devoted and beautiful readers that Audrey Hepburn along with Bette Davis are hands down my favorite film actresses from the Old Hollywood Era. Check out Audrey's smashing metallic dress next to Albert Finney's equally dapper navy blue double breasted evening jacket. Anyone up for a dinner party a la 60's style?

Peter Sellers and Britt Ekland were a darling pair back in the mid 20th century. In the photo opt above, they gave a brilliant showcase on how to wear white without it looking to drab during thee appropriate S/S seasons. When your white top or trousers are clean and crisp looking, than there's no need to worry about the rest of your ensemble looking washed out. It's the contrast between Peter and his than Beau which demonstrate how something so simple as your choice in fabric, can alter each other's same color palette in garment to another level.

Andy Warhol, Andy Warhol! Roll Out Your Silkscreen Portraits

What did Andy Warhol think of the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Halston, Valentino, Diane von Furstenberg, Giorgio Armani, John Lennon, Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda, Debbie Harry, Liza Minelli, Grace Jones, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, all of whom were either leading figures in fashion, musique, art, cinema, and culture? Well he obviously must of thought very highly of these individuals because in the mid 1970's, Andy reincarnated his iconic silkscreen portraits, similar to those he originally created in the 1960s of Elizabeth Taylor and Jackie O.

Morrisey And His T-Shirts

A musician who's always articulated what the public felt rather than how the media interpreted him. I'm speaking about Morrissey. A very committed man to his musique and someone who actually spoke about how the fans felt. During the 1980's, he created a string of timeless hits, but it was his taste in T-shirt's that did it for me.

Of course there was his signature pomp, but after departing as the lead vocalist for 'The Smiths' in the late 1980's, Morrisey was seen strutting numerous bold printed t-shirts with the likes of Oscar Wilde and/or references to his home country of England.

Paul Newman Goes Mad For Plaid

A nicely tailored plaid shirt can sometimes go a long way kiddas. Just make sure you don't have 20 of the same looking plaid shirts in you drawers. Paul Newman was shot in this pictorial back in the 1960s with a superbly rolled up plaid shirt and a nifty wrist watch to go with it. A perfect look in the Spring or Summer for any daytime occasion or event.
